President's Message

FEBRUARY 2025

Lorena Holguin

Dear AIA El Paso Members,

I was honored to experience another exciting and fun start to the year with our Design Awards Gala last month. It was a wonderful night filled with celebration and recognition of our member’s architectural achievements. We received 18 design projects from varying types of categories; from institutional, commercial, and historic preservation. Each with it’s unique architectural approach to solving a challenging design problem. I congratulate everyone that submitted, as I sincerely believe we are greater as a whole when we participate in showcasing our contributions to our community.

A special thanks to the Juror Randall Daniel, for his dedication and keen review of every project. I also share my excitement and appreciation for his presentation highlighting his journey and invaluable contributions to the built environment. This was truly inspiring and we are immensely grateful for his involvement.

A second outstanding moment of the evening was listening to the magical stories behind each project recognized with an award and the architect’s personal experience regarding the development of each project and its design outcome. The exceptional creativity and innovation undoubtedly leave a mark on our community and become part of El Paso’s heritage. With this, I express my deepest congratulations to all the winners of the 2025 Architecture Design Awards Gala.

On behalf of the entire team, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the AIA Design Awards event sponsors and the Professional Affiliate’s support for their generous contributions. Your commitment has made a lasting difference and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with you and your efforts in making this event a success.

And last but not least, I would also like to thank John Reyes, our chapter’s 2023 President-Elect in taking the lead in organizing our special night, and the executive committee members and volunteers that helped make it happen. It was a year of hard work, and I am captivated by our team’s dedication and feel energized for what is to come for 2025. I am confident that together, we will continue to achieve great things and make a lasting impact in our architecture community.

Thank you all for your dedication and enthusiasm.

Regards,
